Purl Soho | Beautiful Yarn For Beautiful Knitting (2024)

I have been knitting for many decades and have shopped at many fine yarn shops over the years but, from my long experience, many things about Purl Soho make it my go-to shop for all things yarn. In the past, I hesitated to buy yarn online unless I was already familiar with but Purl Soho's descriptions are so accurate that I always know exactly what will arrive at my door, and in the rare case, although it is exactly as described, I don't love it once I can hold and work with it, returns are easy, and refunds or store credits are given promptly and courteously. My questions, both online and by phone message have been answered within a day and often within a few hours, color or yarn substitution suggestions are given freely and I get the feeling that they are given with pleasure on the part of the talented people at Purl Soho. There are many very fine yarn shops online and brick & mortar, and browsing my LYS is a pleasure but, in my opinion, Purl Soho shines above the rest.

I have been so happy with my purchases. The wool yarns are so soft and people who think wools are ""scratchy"" cannot believe the feel of Wigeon. I can't say enough about the Cashmere Merino Bloom either. I have also been very satisfied with the patterns I have made. They fit well and the styles are creative but classic. I have been knitting for many years and worked in a LYS for years, so when I recommend Purl Soho to fellow knitters I know they will be very satisfied customers. P.S. The Amphora sweater and the Botanical Yoke Pullover are fabulous.

I love this site - their patterns (many of which are free!) are excellent and easy to follow. I’ve lost count of how many classic ribbed hats I’ve made, best beanie pattern on the internet. It’s easy to search for what you want on the site, the yarn selection is well-curated, and customer service is second to none.

Wanted to express how important I have found the comments section following each pattern. A trove of good advice, insights and strategies….not to be missed, I read them BEFORE I start any new garment. Of particular interest are yarn substitutions geared to those with specific allergies, preferences. Finally the encouraging tone offered to those who wish to lengthen, shorten, add to necklines etc.. truly spurs creativity. … ‘that’s what it’s all about.’

This what I love about Purl Soho & your customer service. I ask about an alternative yarn and not only to get a simple yes/no, go check gauge, but basically the pros/cons. I can’t think of any other company, regardless of their industry/business/niche that consistently goes above and beyond. Purl Soho is one of the most amazing business I’ve ever done business with anywhere in the world (and I internet shop everywhere). The in-house fibers are beyond spectacular. The patterns are second to none and many many are free. The short teaching videos are fabulous – my only complaint is that I want MORE of them. The customer service is without equal. Now, on top of that, they have wonderful packaging... I am just thrilled that Purl has switched to this better packaging for all of us!! I’m not really surprised though. I can’t say often enough how wonderful Purl is.

As you know, many knitting stores didn't survive the challenges of COVID. Of course, having such quality yarns is the main reason for your survival.
